Throughout the year, participants at Eastern maintain their garden space and greenhouse, create added-value products using their garden’s harvest, lead workshops, and sell/donate their products and produce back to the local communities.

Garden Stewards are invited to a post-workday picnic starting at 1pm where City Blossoms will provide lunch and music. We will gather in the garden then walk over to Lincoln Park for the picnic. We recommend bringing a blanket to sit on!

This space functions as a production farm and Community Green Space for all ages to connect with nature through art and garden-based activities. The Farm at Kelly Miller is managed by Dreaming Out Loud with land provided by DC’s Department of Recreation.

Join City Blossoms in the Eastern garden! Tasks for this workday will include a variety of garden maintenance activities such as planting, watering, weeding, and light construction.

Eastern is home to half our year-round, garden-based Youth Entrepreneurship Cooperative program. At the core of the program is a youth-led business called Mighty Greens. Through this business, Youth Staff learn to combine their interests of environmental and food justice work with micro-enterprise and job readiness skills development. Throughout the year, participants at Eastern maintain their garden space and greenhouse, create added-value products using their garden’s harvest, lead workshops, and sell/donate their products and produce back to the local communities.

Calling all volunteers! In preparation for our annual fundraiser, we are holding Art Days where volunteers can join us at our Studio Garden (516 Kennedy St NW) to cut cardboard, sketch, paint, and do all-things-decorations. Any participating volunteers will receive free tickets to attend our Garden Galactica Fiesta on Friday, Sept 29.

Can't make it to the Studio Art Days, or want to do more? Members of the Art Team can be more involved with the decorations making process by helping us create initial designs, preparing supplies for the Studio Days, and helping with ongoing painting. This is a great opportunity for volunteer hours. Send an email to cara@cityblossoms.org to get started!

Girard Children’s Garden is our oldest Community Green Space. Built in 2008, this site is where our team developed much of our kid-driven programming, recipes, and garden design. This space is now one of four Community Green Spaces we manage. It serves as a space for free Open Time programming, service-learning opportunities, community celebrations, and so much more! Girard demonstrates our unique style as an organization by prioritizing natural exploration areas, kid-friendly plants, and lots of creativity, inspired by the local community.

The Farm at Fort Stanton is a multi-use urban farm project located in Ward 8. This project is currently in development in partnership with Dreaming Out Loud (DOL) and the Department of Parks and Recreation. Situated behind the Fort Stanton Recreation Center, this farm will include a production farm, youth garden, pollinator sections, and more.

Randle Highlands is one of City Blossoms’ oldest partners through our School Garden Partners program cohort. Through this partnership, our team has helped revitalize and transform the school’s formerly unused outdoor space into a living outdoor classroom and exploration area for teachers and students to utilize throughout the school year. Students, parents, and the school community are regularly able to access this garden for after school garden clubs, during school lessons, and community celebrations.
